Southern Uplands

I have a long list of job to do for the long weekend, so I started off by avoiding them all and got on my bike to explore Abington.  Found this really fantastic road (6 miles long, saw 3 cars in that whole time) with cracking views over the Southern Uplands.

Abington is a blink and you'll miss it sort of place, and unfortunatley the cafe in the post office wasn't open, so I cycled round in a loop and used the facilities at the services before heading home. The cycle route back to Douglas-ish is pretty rough in place, but is nicely screened off and would have been pleasant if not for the head wind.  That's where the motor comes in really handy!

Good day for buzzards, I saw at least four, two circling, one chilling on some telephone lines and one just as I left the village who was parked on the floor with two crows swaggering up to them. Just before the crows got there, the buzzard took off, got dive bombed by some sort of hawk which mght have been a chunky kestrel, and then escaped into the trees.

Rest of the afternoon was spent weeding the gravel outside the front of the house.  Got it finished around 5.45 which is one job for the weekedn done.
