Day 2.
Breakfast feast at 7am, interrupted by reports of a polar bear sleeping on the shore. It looked up briefly and didn't seem as impressed as we were.
Then all 120 passengers met for zodiac briefing and explanation of AECO rules to put in place to protect the fragile environment we are exploring.
Comical first attempts getting into full expedition gear with layers, waterproofs, muck boots and lifejackets, something which we would become expert in after doing twice a day for 11 days.
Our first amazing guided trip was to explore the breathtaking Lilliehookbreen in krossfjorden. The sea was so calm, a bright sun shone, gaciers and icebergs sparkled and the sea birds were plentiful.
