Ashford parkrun with very tired legs
Drove to Ashford for parkrun - saw Operation Stack for the first time - up to 2 lanes of the motorway with parked trucks for the entire 17 miles - what a waste of police resource, space on the M20 and time for the drivers!
Enjoyed the challenge of Ashford parkrun on very tired legs after yesterday's half. The weather was ideal, dry, cloudy and no wind. Some inclines, but good paths;.the hill is named a mountain after the first volunteer who stood at the top to cheer folks on. An amusing gentleman who is not directly connected with parkrun was there today (and according to him every day) calling out 'and you do this for fun.' He had his drone to play with and enjoyed the friendly banter - he clearly thought we were crazy to do the run. Takes all sorts.
The blip features 2 regular volunteers who are the quietly-getting-on-with-it type who make sure the parkrun keeps going, with their 2 volunteer trollies. The number on the trolley represents the number parkrun the trolley was first used. They clearly have a system in place and cheerfully explained it to me.
Spent the afternoon weeding the block paving on the drive and mowing the top lawn. Hard work. Chatted to the 4 neighbours. Lydsey and Colin shared news about the local housing market, Dave told me the updates about his chemo for the blood cancer, and kind Linda shared news and laughed over memories (she is beginning to cope with her bereavement). She offered me her garden bin - so kind.
We went to town for a drink and takeaway in the evening. Another busy day.
