Red. Flowers and jacket.

Early July 2024 in Scotland. Can’t go anywhere without a waterproof jacket. We went to charity shop and thereafter to the park.

It poured when we were 50 yards from the car, we almost avoided the deluge. We sat it out and then went home.

Our younger son had better luck weather wise. He was at a wedding in the south west of Scotland with old university chums. They’re a tight cohort still; all gainfully employed and great young Scots. This was the first to get married. Photos were lovely, it was a fine event.

The last constituency of the General Election was confirmed, Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire. Overall a resounding majority for Labour in terms of seats, albeit less votes than they polled previously etc, and low turnout. Early analysis again highlighted the failings of the First Past the Post system, whether it be Reform, SNP or Greens. Apparently (in Europe) only Belarus still uses this system. Elsewhere versions of Proportional Representation are employed (Scottish Parliament too). I doubt it’ll change here in future UK elections.
