Saturday scene on Stroud High Street
I had a busy day at the Shambles Market today, and met some interesting people, some regulars and some just visiting Stroud, from near and far.
One gentleman I recognised from his several previous visits. I met William when he bought a few cards several years ago, whilst visiting from Cardiff where he was an academic at the university. He had escorted his granddaughter so that she could set up as a busker in the High Street to play music on her clarinet, and this was the also the reason for today’s visit. Once again we had a long chat today and he likes my pictures buying six cards. How kind of him. As he was leaving I asked where Catrin was playing and he said she was on the High Street at the entrance to The Shambles only a matter of thirty yards away.
I decided to go out to see her when I had a break between customers, and gathered my little camera which I haven’t used for a while. When I got to the High Street sadly I could hear no music nor any sign of her, or her grandfather, so possibly they had gone to lunch.
She is an excellent musician and is now at the end of her first year at university. I’m adding this link to an earlier blip when she they first visited in March 2022, as I love the scene she conjures up. Do have a look. She also played on another day here.
I took a picture of the scene on the street, and I rather like the way the chuggers in the blue shirts were laughing and waving ‘v’ signs at me. I hadn’t noticed them doing this at the time.
