Hook lighthouse
We've had a lovely day, driving around the Hook Peninsula. Seeing sights we hadn't got round to visiting - that's what having a visitor does.
We started with Tintern Abbey and Colclough (pronounced Co-Klee) walled garden. ArcLight got a few ideas for her garden from their garden, and we enjoyed finding out a little more about the history of the area.
Then we drove on, stopping for lunch at Saltmills. Through Fethard, and down to The Hook Lighthouse. We didn't go in the lighthouse itself, but enjoyed clambering around on rocks at the point. The rock formations are something special (see 1st extra), and in places you could hear the waves washing up into crooks and crevices.
Afterwards, we stopped at Templetown Church ruins (2nd extra) for a wander, and made a note to return and try the restaurant just across the road.
After that, we crossed on the ferry to Passage East and came home through Waterford, stopping at the roadside to buy strawberries for our supper.
A lovely gentle day out.
