If you can't beat them...

Selfheal ( Prunella vulgaris )

Saturday, so prepping the Lodge.  Again no "walk to the bins" as the guests (one of our regulars) had done that job.  So after the jobs were done I was looking for a blip.  I turned to our developing wildflower meadow.

I decided on the selfheal.  It is a good source of nectar for pollinators flowering from June to October.  As the name suggests throughout history it has been used in folk medicines e.g. treating wounds and sore throats.  It is widespread in roadside verges, lawns (where no chemicals are used) woodland glades etc.
