Lavender blue, dilly dilly ....
It's been rare that I've been able to go further than the garden on Day2 after chemo, but this afternoon we went to Lordington Lavender Farm Open (long) Weekend, a lovely place though modest in size. Sunshine too. Walking between the lines of lavender is just amazing. The best scent and bloom is probably a week away, but these things have to be arranged in advance and with the weather this year, who could predict. Bought some beautiful English lavender essential oil, my favourite. Cooling, healing, cleansing.
Better in Large as ever.
Some of my lavender at home is just ready for baking which I do each summer and freeze batches for later as it does not go down with everyone. My husband thinks it smells like old ladies and tastes like medicine, so none for him then! Thinking of trying icecream this year too, never done that. Anyone got experience with lavender icecream?
Lavender's blue, dilly dilly,
lavender's green,
When you are king, dilly, dilly,
I'll be your queen.
Who told you so, dilly, dilly,
who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly, dilly,
that told me so.
According to Wiki, the earliest surviving version of the song is in a broadside printed in England between 1672 and 1685, and rather more bawdy than this favourite version above.
Oops, just realised I blipped lavender a year ago today, and used the same song! Different connotations then though.
Also just realised I reached 600 blips yesterday, rather an auspicious day all round then. I know it's not an official BlipDay but kinda special to me with all that's going on, able to share and enjoy all your lovely pix and lives. Thanks guys for making it all possible, and thanks to PicturePoems for introducing me.
