Diary of an Edinburgher

Peas and tennis!

Listened to the England/All Black test this morning. Another good game - either team could have won right up until the last few minutes.

Back to the usual dreich-ness. Though not raining. I didn’t take Archie to the Links, where he loves to roll in the grass. JR reckons his constant licking and scratching (and tiny wee lumps down his spine) is an allergy. He goes mad with scratching, whacking his scratching leg on the wooden floor a la Thumper. But it’s still a fright in the middle of the night - it sounds like someone is banging on the front door!!

As we walked up the road past the shops, Archie stopped at the grocer’s. He hauled me in, yelping excitedly! He gets a treat there. I had not intended buying any more peas. For one thing, I knew they were several days old, and for another thing - I couldn’t carry them, having no spare hands. But then I remembered the hood of my raincoat! Yes! The bag of peas was popped in and carried home via a walk round the streets.

Archie and I shared the bag. Well, he had a few, and he’s happy with the pods too. Then he and JR went out, while I watched the women’s tennis final, which was great.
