Out and About

Book Club

On an unbelievably busy day,  I rashly hosted the Family History group (in a cafe in Kendal) , Book Club in my house and then my brother and his wife for dinner because it is my birthday today.  In view of the special occasion I went a bit mad with  the cake offerings. Lemon polenta cake, tahini & date cookies and carrot cake. R turned up later as well so he'll help eat the cake.
The book we've taken away to read is all about the scandal of the 150,000 children sent to Western Australia between the 1950s to 1970s.  By coincidence it was featured on Long Lost Family on ITV the other day. The book we discussed was The Boy Made of Blocks. A very well written tale of family disintegration and recovery caused by having an autistic child.
