The collective effort to make parkrun happen every week is heartwarming.

I am run director this week and have dried and re-sorted the finish tokens after the downpour from last week. Some of our 'yoghurt pot, token buckets' had disappeared last week and Gabi has added handles to a new batch for this week. Yvonne laundered all of the sodden volunteer vests....the list goes on.

I was listening to an episode of Huberman Lab podcast this week where Jonathan Haidt talks about how smart phones and social media impact mental health. During the interview there was a discussion about adolescent brain development and reference to 'gen z' in the workforce.

I've been struggling for some time to understand the repeated requests from some of my team for very specific instruction for work that, in my view, requires a bit of free thought. Whilst there are some rules, guidelines and principles often a decision has to be made on a case by case basis.

I am hoping that those skills can be improved with practice and support
