Portaging Ivanhoe Street
A neighbor at the other end of our block had this wooden canoe sitting on his car the other day, and this morning, at not quite 6:30, I was sitting on my porch steps putting on my shoes, when he walked by heading to the right; when he reached the intersection, he carefully turned around and walked his boat back home. I guess turning the thing around was the point; there are a lot of cars parked on the street down there. It was such a quiet moment, I didn't want to call out "Good Morning!" and scare the bejeebers out of him. ' I bet he has it in his garage now for refinishing as it looked well worn.
I also didn't want to call out, "look out for skunks!" though he should - just a few minutes earlier, I stood on my back porch just in time to watch a young skunk scurry across the yard right in front of me. It was so cute and bright clean, but I hope to never see it again here.
