My day

In the pink

The 4 boys came to help with some gardening. I wasn’t sure how that would go trying to direct them all at once but we had a productive hour outside when the fog lifted. Max was fantastic, he is 16.5 now and very sensible. He used the electric clippers and did a top job on the photinia hedge. His first time using it. Oscar was given some long handled pruners and I asked him to chop off the buddlia at about head height. I thought he wouldn’t chop off his fingers holding the pruners so far from the blades. Charlie and Elijah scratched around like a couple of hens but eventually got lots of leaves in the bin, then helped clean up the mess Max and Oscar had created. We had hot chocolate to celebrate. Bob supervised the tools and trailer.

While tramping around in the garden I saw some hellibores flowering. They were planted a few years ago and these were their first blooms, both a bit different. They are hard to photograph as they are shy, but I found some foil and put it over a little pot, then put it on my iPad cover which is pink.

The other family arrived at lunch time to collect Onken. She was a good girl and had fun playing with the boys while they were here. tomorrow the ‘Sydney grandchildren are coming so that will be lovely.

Have a good weekend everyone.
