Allergens

Your love for Margie and her poetry--and perhaps for your own aging mind and body--has been a joy to read. I'm behind on responding, but I am moved by the comments and the understanding.

I planned to attend a musical event this evening, but I had trouble sleeping last night, so I was too tired to make it. Here’s another Chloe photo instead.

I think I mentioned that when Chloe is being petted, she salivates. It’s one of her most endearing qualities, and yet it may be the very quality that makes me allergic to her. The dreaded Fel d 4 allergen is in cat saliva, not hair or dander. She salivates copiously as she purrs, butts her head, and receives scritches on the chin and ears.

In this photo I caught a drop of saliva just about to drip from her lovely little chin. I’m still breathing with ease, thanks to two kinds of antihistamines, but my eyes are swollen, red-rimmed, and itchy. Chris returns home tomorrow afternoon, and despite the pleasure I’ve had in Chloe's company, I’m glad it is coming to an end before my eyes swell shut.

I found time to peer through my swollen eyes at a fascinating Argentine movie on Netflix. It's Goyo, (dubbed in English), a film about a non-neurotypical man, in  love for the first time in his life--with an older woman. Brilliant acting by the two leads, and a fascinating story.
