If you know what you’re looking at, you can see here how cormorants feed their young. The baby strokes the parent’s long throat until it’s stimulated to open its mouth wide enough to appear to swallow the baby’s entire head and neck. Yum, regurgitated food is then passed to the hungry little one. There are usually three kids to a nest; I have seen four once in awhile. That’s a lot of mouths to feed. Here the parent is on the right with one of the babies in her mouth; there are two more waiting their turn.
