Mum and Mammogram

A very short, late Blip.

I accompanied my Mum to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI) through higher levels of chronic pain for her five year post breast cancer mammogram.

My full brother (I have three brothers, one full, two half) was working today as was his partner.

She was very nervous, anxious and is struggling with her asthma, chronic pain and anxiety at present.

We have had a difficult relationship over the past decade or so but she is struggling and despite my own struggles, I felt I needed to support her. I hope her mammogram results come back clear as she will be be able to rest easy and come off her post breast cancer medication, Tamifoxen. She was diagnosed in May 2019.

She is currently struggling with an asthma flare up and is on the wonder drug, Prednisone. She was diagnosed with asthma in May 2022. I have had chronic asthma since age 14, I am 43 in December.

I have overdone my steps today (and this week) through higher chronic pain and fatigue to plan to take Friday and the weekend to rest as much as possible (steps in extra).

Today was the 32nd birthday of one of my closest friends. We had a chat today :)

I will catch up with him ASAP. He was honoured for his birthday by his home bowling club, well deserved. We have been best friends since Spring 2013, he has been a loyal, patient and compassionate friend throughout my health and life challenges. Friends for life! :)

Thanks to everyone who has donated to my paced walking fundraiser in aid of Cancer Research UK (breast cancer). I aim to raise as much as I can throughout July. One of my closest, best friends is currently battling breast cancer too and is the same age as me (born same year).

Cancer is far too prevalent, don’t you think?

My extra is of me undertaking some of today’s steps :)

If you would like to support me, here is my fundraising link, I would really appreciate your support and encouragement:

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Giving Page. Due to having fibromyalgia and joint hypermobility syndrome, I will undertake this challenge by doing paced walking (with mobility aids as necessary). I am a chronic asthma warrior too.

I plan to undertake a paced walking challenge throughout July 2024 for breast cancer research for all those living with the disease. This is for you and for all those no longer with us.

I have lost many friends and family to different cancers (oesophageal cancer, stomach cancer, bowel cancer and breast cancer) and my Mum is a Stage 2 breast cancer survivor thanks to advances in screening, treatments and research.

Need to play major catch up with Blips, hearts and stars on Friday and over the weekend xx
