Shadowing

My colleague really wanted to try out some orienteering. With the world champs being in Edinburgh there is a series of spectator races and today's was in Holyrood Park. I entered him on the shortest technical course - that was all that was left - so we finished work early and then just about made it the start on time. I know the area like the back of my hand so I just looked at the next control and then was able to navigate by map memory whilst my colleague here tried to do it without any interfering from me.

Given we were doing the shortest technical course, we were mainly up against people at least double our age. He was very stop-starty but given we work for a mapping software company he got the hang of it very easily. Perhaps though I interfered too much and didn't allow him to get too lost as we somehow were third on our course.

The main thing was though that he enjoyed it
