Pond Excavation

Yesterday we decided to dig a few test holes where we are planning a new pond. We knew beforehand to expect a few tree roots as the site is where we had the giant trees cut down. This project may take some time. It is going to be built from wood with a flexible liner. The excavations will reduce the height of the retaining walls.
 While we were digging yesterday a fox strolled down the garden, looked at us, stopped to sniff at the blackcurrants I had just picked and headed off round the end of the house. It was heading down from the hillside towards the main road. I hope it will be safe. I saw a fox in the garden a few days ago early in the morning, heading in the other direction. No camera to hand either time of course.
