Giant Thistles

Another dull and dismal day with rain and drizzle for much of the day. I went out for walk to look for a Blip earlier and I went along the path above Monks Road. It feels a bit like a country lane, and you get good views into the countryside on a less dull day like today.

I took this in the little community garden/allotment run by Green Synergy up near the Tower Estate. These are the biggest thistles I ever saw! Colourful too, and very spiky!

Google Lens suggests they are not actually thistles but artichokes, or something called a Cardoon?

For extra steps I walked up to the Carlton Centre and then the Sue Ryder charity shop where I found a virtually new Kenwood Chef with all the tools and attachments and the guidebook for £35. (Both of my mixing/chopping tools packed in in the same week. One just stopped working, the other died in a cat-related incident!)

I bought it and asked Brian to come over and pick it up. The shop is a minute from his work. I'd planned to stay and have a bit more of a browse in the shop but as Brian was about to drive away a migraine started and All I could see was waves in front of my eyes. So I ran out and flagged him down as he was leaving the car-park and got him to bring me home.

It's the first time I'd had a migraine for a few months, after having them every week for ages. Hopefully this one is just a one-off...  Once home I had my tablets with my lunch and chilled out for the rest of the afternoon. I still feel weird and as usual with migraine, I am really hungry!

England did so well in the Euro semi-final last night! I had not expected them to win and though I am not a partisan national supporter I want them to do well in the final. It will require luck I'm sure, as Spain are just so good. They seem to have the fluent connection of a club side who play together all the time!
