Stinking Stair

These steps lead down from Parliament Square in Peebles.   They were known as the 'Stinking Stair' in the days when there was a tannery nearby.

The nearby plaque says... 'When David II was taken by the English in 1346, the Scottish Parliament met in Peebles, perhaps in this old courtyard.'
