Hollyhocks

The village is awash with hollyhocks. They thrive on the clay soils and most remain unbowed by the frequent deluges. The very humid air - warmer outside than in - seems to help them thrive. T has gathered autumn seeds from the hollyhocks and they are also thriving where there is space in our increasingly crowded flowerbeds! I am beginning to lose hope of a prolonged sunny summer and wonder now if a golden autumn awaits?
