Hospital

My tour of Wirral’s hospitals continues. Last week, whilst visiting my sister at Clatterbridge, my mum complained of feeling unwell. In the absence of being able to contact me, they - quite rightly - took the decision to send her over to A&E at nearby Arrowe Park hospital to be checked over.
Nothing was found except that she is very fatigued. As such they have taken the decision to keep her in hospital until a proper care package can be agreed and put in place, as they do not think she would be safe on her own, given she has had a few falls (albeit none serious) in the last couple of months.
I must say that this hospital is considerably larger than I remember - though it is nearly 50 years since I lived in that neck of the woods! But you can’t fault the amount of car parking available - although the charges are a bit steep!
I’m comforted by the knowledge that mum is safe and being looked after. And I’m heartened by talk of a care package, as this is something we have struggled to have set up so far.
As always, I cannot fault the care, kindness and dedication shown by all the nursing staff, both to mum and to us relatives, despite the obvious strains they are under. I really hope the new Labour administration can take action asap to repair the damage done to the NHS over the past decade or so.
