VISITOR
The herring gull chick which fell from its nest about 10 days ago has been exploring and crossed the road to our drive, crying outside the front door and resting on the doorstep in the rain for a while. I took this through one of the panels on the front door as I didn't want to frighten it back into the road, but mainly because I don't want to antagonise its parents. They're intermittently keeping watch from the neighbouring rooftops and creating mayhem if they think it's being threatened. I've seen them swooping aggressively at people and dogs who look as though they're getting too close. I think it's gone back to the alleyway over the road for the time being but I'll be keeping my eyes open. I don't think it's going to survive for much longer though if it's now in the habit of wandering around in the road.
Apart from that it's B's birthday today, but a very quiet one as the weather has been so awful. He's spent it watching videos and eating some very off-diet treats and doesn't want to do anything more exciting. I had an early GP appointment which was a bit frustrating. I was expecting to see my GP, the senior partner, to ask for another steroid injection into my knee. He's the one who prescribes and performs the injections, but he was off sick and one of the other GPs was taking his appointments and said I'd need to make another appointment with Dr M to arrange it (another three weeks or so as I've got a holiday coming up). However, at least Dr O wrote me up for some blood tests which I've been told might be helpful.
