3480. Appointment day…

I met my friend for brunch and coffee this morning before her appointment with the oncologist.  She was naturally pretty anxious about it but we managed to have a good chat and a few laughs too….

The appointment went well and her new consultant was lovely, her chemo starts in about three weeks with further surgery about 4 weeks after her last chemo.  He told her she will lose her hair so she told him she was getting a Mohawk cut right before her first chemo as she’s never had one and would like to have one!

When he spoke about the various side effects he mentioned that she may lose sensation in her finger tips, oh dear, she said, how will I do my Lego?  He then asked what Lego sets she has built, Animal Crossing she told him…oh haven’t played that in ages, he said!  This little bit of chit chat made the world of difference to her and she felt that she wasn’t just another cancer patient coming through the door….it matters….
