Lift Off
Quick airport blip today whilst out getting my lunch.
For a change there were a lot of Wings Over Prestwick today, quite a busy wee place for a change. In the space of five minutes there were two arrivals and two departures. Quite unusual.
Tonight's blip actually contains the two departures, although at the time I must admit I had only seen one of them in the viewfinder.
In the foreground is the departing Bombardier BD-700-1A10 Global 6000 business jet. Quite an impressive little toy for the wealthy amongst you, if you have a spare $50m lying about. She can carry 8-19 passengers, depending on internal layout and comforts, at an altitude of 51,000 ft. The cruise speed is 565mph and she has a range of 6,000 miles.
In the distance in front of her is the Fly-Be De Havilland Dash 8. More of a regional turbo prop aircraft I'm sure her internal fit out is not nearly as impressive. I did laugh a little though when I found out she was leased to Fly-Be by a company called GOAL. Which is fairly benign until you realise her name is "The George Best". You couldn't make it up now could you.
More gardening tonight hence the late blip. Weekend is nearly here, thanks all for the views and comments.
