No mow June and July

I have left a patch of long grass and weeds under the apple tree for Portia to lie in when it’s hot - it seems to be the most comfortable spot for her.  She also likes it when it’s cold and rainy, and then comes in with leaves, burrs, and often small slugs stuck to her long fur:)
Quite a difficult day for me - but only because electricians were here, checking all the wiring in the house, replacing and repairing some sockets, and then fitting a new distribution box - formerly known as the fuse box. This meant no electricity or wifi for most of the day, which was incredibly awkward. And most items of furniture in every room had to be moved. However it is really worth it - firstly I will have about 12 sockets in my living room, instead of the current two - which means I depend on extension leads plugged into extension leads across the floor. And - as Mark explained to me - there is a protective device in this new box which means it is impossible to be electrocuted. The current would be stopped before harm was done. As I actually know two people who were electrocuted - one of whom died - the other was never the same again, this is a brilliant invention I feel.
