Golden Hour
A big day in many ways, big things happening for people around us. I spent several hours with Stuart's mum this morning, buying things she needed for herself and for him...listening to her talk about him and about her life...having a coffee together. It was good to see him awake when we got back to the hospital. I came up again later (blipped is the road up to the hospital) to drop off something else for him and it was nice to see him in a cheery mood. I've never before had a relationship with someone specifically because they're dying, it's quite bizarre, but feels almost sacred.
I bumped into a friend who is in sheltered accommodation, we had a coffee together and a gorgeous open and deep conversation. I felt so glad we'd had that unexpected time. In fact it's the lovely lovely guy who carried my heavy shopping back the other week, a lovely Italian guy we've known for years.
K&K have been amazing looking after Asha and Nate this afternoon whilst we had team meeting with Gemma. The kids are loving having them here!!
And now time to write my essay - it's due in Wednesday afternoon, eeek!
Today I'm grateful for;
1) Asha and K getting on well!
2) The privilege of walking this hard time with this family.
3) This chaplaincy essay being so relevant to life and work here.
