AN ENCOURAGING HOSPITAL APPOINTMENT

I apologise for not commenting yesterday, but thank you for all your kind comments about my Blip.  The reason was because I was concerned last night about an appointment I was due to go to this morning at our local hospital, relating to issues following my major back surgery last year.

I needn’t have worried - and isn’t that often the way?  I saw a lovely Senior Physiotherapist in the Rehabilitation Therapy Department, who was very encouraging, so I now have exercises to do for 2 months and then have another appointment with her.  She is confident that we can turn things around, and I feel much happier today.

My collage shows the “March of technology” at our local hospital, where you check yourself in for an appointment - however, I didn’t see that when I first walked in and anyway, much prefer to speak to a “real” person.

I was in with her for almost an hour and then decided to walk some way back to the hospital entrance before calling Mr. HCB to ask him if he would kindly come and collect me.

On the way, I only saw one ambulance - strange since this is a very busy hospital - but perhaps that was a good sign.

The gardens looked very pretty with lots of roses and variegated bushes and then I came across these delightful Echinaceas planted in front of a wooden structure, which may be a “smoking” area or just somewhere for people to sit and just “catch their breath” after being in a busy hospital environment.  There is a beautiful lagoon just beyond this, so although there is plenty of traffic coming in and out, it is a very peaceful place to sit.

Then, of course, finally in my collage, there is the “grungy cow”, a sculpture created by Tom Gleeson, sometime in the 1980s, and which stands by the side of the flood storage lagoon at the entrance to the hospital.  Apparently, this sculpture used to be at the old hospital and instead of just getting rid of it when that was demolished in 2004, it was given a new lease of life and is now “chewing the cud” to its heart’s content in full view of everyone who visits our “new” hospital, although it’s not so new now, having been built in 2002.  You will be relieved to know I did not sing to this cow!

It’s been a grey day so far today and still quite cold - I do wonder if summer is ever coming back!

P.S.  A friend who reads my Blips has commented that the hospital is a Smoke free zone, so the shelter is obviously just for relaxing!
