secret garden

Buxton

A gentle morning exploring the small but attractive and very hilly town full of imposing buildings - all to do with its heyday as a spa .We admired the Opera House, got warm in the Winter Gardens ( the temperature was arctic) and marvelled at the Crescent, newly restored. Then Barry drove home and I attended the inaugural talk for the Sacred Wells Conference, held in the Pump rooms appropriately enough (the small building in the foreground). Nice to catch up with a few people I’ve corresponded with and good to meet Celeste, the professor of holy wells from Tennessee, who has organised the conference.
