The Island Queen lll

We were lucky to be at the cottage when we heard what sounded like a train whistle. Steve looked out the window and said to me, come quick! We practically ran outside to see one of the 1000 Island's cruise ships going by... The Island Queen lll, of Kingston, Ontario. That was really fun!

We had a busy day visiting with family and friends. I even interviewed some! When Steve & I were married in 2005, we came to Wolfe Island for our honeymoon. As a new person coming into this very large family, I needed help trying to remember or even get a sense of who was who. Steve wrote a version of a family tree down for me... To give you an idea, I think we counted about 150 relatives at that time.

19 years later we knew there had been more marriages, children, grandchildren... as well as some passing on. So I talked to a few family members today and filled in many blanks. It's all in scrap paper now, but when we get home I'll get a larger piece of paper and map all it out. It won't be a complete traditional family tree, but a good sense of who's who and their children's names. This will be very helpful for Steve & I as we grow older!

We also visited with a good family friend of Steve's he grew up with here in the summer months. We sat on the deck of Matt's home down the street from the cottage with his son, his sister and her husband. We were regaled with stories of Steve and Matt doing all kinds of crazy things in their youth. We were all laughing, especially Matt's son, who said he had never heard about his dad doing this or that! Matt's sister remembered some, but not all of their shenanigans and we laughed some more and had a wonderful time. Steve and Matt are in their middle 60''s now, so this was great fun to reminisce with him & his family. A lovely day all around.
