Blackbird ( Turdus merula )

It was raining in the morning but by late afternoon it had stopped.  In fact it was feeling quite pleasant.  Well pleasant had it been spring.  Yesterday I saw two fledgeling Blackbirds in the garden, seeming quite capable of fending for themselves.  I assume Mr Blackie feels his job is done and he can afford to relax with a bit of sunbathing.  He was certainly very relaxed and must have been laid out in the sun for the best part of a hour.  He wasn't even worried about me moving about and taking photos from not far away.  By the time the day started to cool he had done a bit of preening and then headed off to roost.
