Very pink
We have spent a lifetime travelling to and from houses in France every summer, staying in hotels on the way there and back - these were often the first experiences our girls had of French restaurants, something that they still remember.
Once we were free of school holiday restrictions we have spent such a lot of time at a house we have loved in Provence, returning year after year after year. Oh yes that house and its environs have a place in my heart and my memory that will never be erased.
However, we knew a while back that driving all that way was no longer an option and we didn’t want to do it any other way. So, we have adapted and tried staying in a place that gives us all we want from French life, but does not require as much driving. We have also drastically reduced the driving between stopping places to make it positively leisurely.
As a result we have been able to stay in many different places, which has been fascinating. So here we are heading through Normandy towards Calais and spending the night near Lisieux. I won’t blip the view from the window as it really could not be more different from yesterday. Instead here is a pink cow - well it is Normandy.
