Wye Cycle

Early afternoon we cycled from home alongside the River Wye into Monmouth town (South Wales, UK) where we met up with our neighbours and friends, Jayne and Archie, who'd driven, for a Costa Coffee and a good chat.

Cycing home via The Old Nags Head (1297AD) in Twyn Square, Monmouth I took the photo' of it. . It's about a mile from the world famous Rockfield Studios where most of it's famous stars used the Old Nags Head to drink after recording. In Jeff Collins book (2022) 'Rock Legends of Rockfield' he mentions 'The Nags Head at Monmouth became a kind of celebrity haunt...we'd go down there and see Robert Plant and no end of famous rock stars and their crews standing there with a pint'. At the end of the day they'd want a drink and all end up at The Nags Head'

It's probably fair to say that the pub has had more famous people drinking in it than any other in the UK!  The list of extremely famous bands who recorded at Rockfield, like Queen, would have drunk here.
