Evening light
I read for Talking Newspaper this evening and afterwards took a diversion on the way home to Bookham Common, hoping for a blip in the evening light. It was beautifully quiet down there, not even much birdsong. Earlier in the summer this is the place to hear nightingales. These grasses picked up the light of the late sun.
This morning I was wishing we played Mah-jong for money. I won thousands of points, almost bankrupting my opponents as in hand after hand the tiles fell right. Alas, numbered tallies were my only profit. All the same, it was a very satisfying game!
