2024 Friday — Day after the Holiday
Today we took a drive to Cambria, the town north of us. The fabulous nursery and gardens was the target on our map.
We had been told that sweet peas can be grown in autumn and add their blooms will add wonderful color to our backyard. So we asked one of the nursery gardeners if there were any sweet pea plants available to purchase. He looked puzzled and said, “No.” Then I explained that we had been told that we could grow sweet peas in autumn. He did not encourage us with that prospect. He did say the plants would grow, but he wasn’t sure if the plants would produce flowers.
So we found ourselves looking at Marigolds and realizing they are the same color as the poppies whose season is now coming to an end. So we purchased three marigold plants to bring home and plant in our backyard wonderland.
On our way back into Cayucos we drove along Lucerne Avenue to get to look over at the beach on the north side of the pier. We wanted to see what the beach looked like the day after Independence Day. The sand looked considerably more crowded with people than a normal day that’s not connected to a holiday.
