Dark red Helleborine

It was nice enough this morning to check the beehives. One of them is having a go at storing some honey! They are bringing in the green pollen that signifies lime trees in flower, which is a huge nectar source if only the sun shines a bit. One of the hives doesn’t look good, with patchy brood and some dead cells so I will have to read up on that.
We thought it would be ok for a walk at Helsington Barrows to see the Helleborine in flower. They are looking perfect just now. Unfortunately we got caught in a heavy shower, without our coats! Oh well it’s only water….
