Nibbled

Woke to the lulling sound of rain.  The hound doesn't like getting wet so was content to snooze until dry weather prevailed.

In the morning we went to two Open Studios, both of artists using print as their medium.  Sue's work was fascinating as she blended photography with letter printing and painting using different media.  The work was eclectic, bold and diverse.  I bought a piece from her which I'll have mounted and framed next week.

Sarah's prints were beautifully detailed.  The elements of photography in her prints were echoed in her subjects including textures, contrasts, shapes and shadows.  Both artists were inspiring.

I've realised I haven't drawn since building work began next door.  Though it has now ended my mojo to draw seems to have vanished.  Mr is away for a few days in mid-July.  So perhaps with just the hound and myself to consider I should have more time and less distraction and be able to get the pencils or pastels out again.

In the afternoon the sun emerged.  Perfect for a walk with the hound.

On my return made a date and walnut cake.  I found the recipe on a middle Eastern page on Instagram.  It appealed as the recipe doesn't include sugar only pitted dates left to soak in hot milk then blended.  There are no eggs or butter either, only some vegetable oil, wholewheat flour, baking powderand bicarbonate of soda.  We'll try it tomorrow.

Full from a delicious takeaway veggie curry.

Pleasant evening everyone.
