Cill an Ailean (Chapel of the Beautiful Place)

Today we walked to the site of Cill an Ailean, which translates to Chapel of the Beautiful Place. Quite an apt name, I think. Blip is of the view from the site of the chapel. The chapel is near Salen, so we got to Salen in time for a coffee at a cafe that does wonderful coffee and cake. After that we drove to the start of the walk. Cill an Ailean is the site of a medieval chapel and lies within a graveyard that was used up until the 1920s. There are a number of modern burial enclosures and graveslabs visible . Today it is in within woodland and fairly overgrown (extra of one part of the graveyard within which the chapel lies). It was an interesting site to visit. After a short walk to the chapel and back to the car, we had a picnic lunch then returned to the forestry track for a bit of longer walk. Then it was back to the caravan and out again to have dinner with a couple of my mum's friends.
