Castle Loenersloot
I'm having a sort of weekend away while staying at home. Every day some sightseeing from home.
Today I visited this castle which is only accessible to the public on Friday and Saturday with a guided tour.
The oldest part of the castle is the tower. It's from the 13th century, built for defence. Afterwards the castle got extended over the years and by then castle was lived in. From the 18th century on it served as summer residence until the 20th century. The last baroness lived there until 1997. She made sure the castle and castle park were set up in a foundation. Never to be used as a restaurant, hotel or such.
