Phew!

Woke to the news that the exit poll was fairly accurate…quite the relief! Listened to lots of the analysis, with interesting discussions on vote share, splintering of the electorate, low turnout rates etc etc.
I went over to my dentist appointment and blasted myself with familiar music which did the trick of distracting me from the noise and feel of the drill…just two small fillings that didn’t take too long. Did some food shopping and watched the Downing St/Palace choreographed events (always amazes me how quickly everything changes the day after an election!), pleased to see a different tone being struck in the speeches, then made an almond cake for tonight’s dessert.
I started some of the huge pile of ironing before walking over to meet a couple of people CM had put me in touch with to talk fundraising strategies… quite helpful and we had a good discussion.
The weather’s once again been very mixed today but it was bright when I walked back and saw these red roses…seemed appropriate for today!
Finished the ironing and made some pasta alla Norma for supper then CMB arrived and as always we chatted non stop for nearly 3 hours about everything from receptions at MoMA to knitting to tendon injuries and stately homes.
Once she left I cleared up and caught up on the events of the last 24hours…particularly loved the photo of Jacob R-M standing at his count next to a candidate with a baked bean mask on….thank goodness he’s no longer going to be lounging on the green benches.
