2024 Saturday — The 29th

We are celebrating the first month of our 60th year. Our actual anniversary is May 29. So next May will be the big “6” “0” and what some call the “real” anniversary.

The 29th is a day Mr. Fun & I celebrate every month. This is our 60th June 29th together. No one is more surprised than we are. We didn’t plan to be married; we didn’t have a plan for how to stay married. We are confident now that God had a plan for us. He walked into our party on our 10th anniversary, May 29th, 1975, and gave us the best invitation we’ve ever received . . . we accepted and now have seen the deed to our eternity. Jesus’s love was and is overwhelming. He has never let us go, even when we are unlovely.

The hardest thing we’ve ever done is stay married, not much of these 59 years and 1 month has been easy. The funnest thing we’ve done is stay together. “Fun” and “easy” are not synonyms, but ingredients. We’re positive that the glue of God’s Holy Spirit gets all the credit for these two hard headed, selfish, rebellious, cantankerous humans staying together since we were 15 & 19.

We’ve spent a lot of time on the sand (Laguna & Cayucos), on the road (in a car and on a tandem bicycle), and in churches (in Corona and the Central Coast) — all three of those are places to build a relationship.

We do not have enough words to thank the friends who have walked along side us; the camaraderie of friends and their prayers have been immensely meaningful. So we’re going to wrap this day in thankfulness and celebration and, yes, make a memory.

This evening we are enjoying an after dinner adult beverage as we celebrate at the Savory Pallet across the walkway from the restaurant where we enjoyed dinner.
