My old MP in my old constituency held his seat. The incumbent MP in my new constituency got booted out with a narrow majority. I went to bed at the same time the results must have been announced, after dozing off on the sofa.

Much fuss is suddenly being made about proportional representation (PR) versus the current first-past-the-post (FPTP) system.

Remember that heady time before Covid, when the UK had a referendum on changing the voting system in 2011? Yes, it was to the alternative vote (AV) system, but it had to be better than FPTP. And what was the result of that referendum? To keep the status quo.
