The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire

The punters started arriving today in time for the official opening this evening. It's been very hot and most of our team flopped, glad we'd completed the hard work of setting up our site yesterday.

Although the nine main stages don't open until Friday, there is masses and masses going on elsewhere, some on the programme and some not, and when it cooled down a bit I went to Toad Hall in Green Futures to see the Scribes (not on the programme).

At sunset I joined some of our group on the slope in front of the Pyramid Stage to watch Glastonbury's (and my) first ever drone display. I was surprised that there was no accompanying music and I think those of our group who went to the Sacred Space by the stone circle for a ritual burning of the wooden phoenix and fireworks (which we could see from a distance, as they could see the drones) made the better choice.

Then an evening walk through the Unfairground and Block 9 - an exhilaratingly weird bit of the site with Platform 23 (a tube train), this building on fire (Meatrack) and a whole lot of other dystopia.
