Peace by Piece

Westray resident Trish Berry won them in a competition she entered in Devon by suggesting a name for the artwork. Her title 'Peace by Piece' was chosen as the winner, and the sculptor Penny Hardy who created the figures made her way from the south of England to deliver the prize to the island herself.

The sculptures of a man, woman and two children were created as part of a fundraiser for Unicef.

Right now the sculptures are in Trish’s front yard but will soon by moved to their permanent location. That location is being determined by a community vote!

We’ve had a pretty lazy day today. Lisa & I walked along to the shop (Tulloch’s) to get a few things but other than that with the elections yesterday there has been a LOT of political talk in the house.

Both Mum & I napped this afternoon and Margaret T stopped by for a visit.
