View from holiday accommodation, French Alps

A very long day of travelling to the French Alps for a week's holiday. The plane was delayed because the scheduled pilot had called in to say he was ill so we had to wait on a replacement arriving. We finally moved off an hour and forty five minutes late only to have the first attempt at take-off aborted at the last minute! The first officer advised that a warning light had come on and he needed to check everything was working properly. Quite nerve-wracking to say the least as I'm not a keen flyer. He taxied back up the runway and then announced that everything was now in order and we could take off. We finally arrived in Geneva around 11.40 and picked up our hire car - the company tried to fob us off with a car two categories inferior to the one we'd paid for and when we queried it they blamed it on head office and instead gave us a car two categories better than the original! Result - and not at all our usual kind of luck when it comes to hire cars! Just as well as it was much more spacious as we had the two younger sons with us and we were picking up the eldest from Geneva train station where he was arriving from London to spend the week with us while "working from home." Happy days to be all together again for a while. Such a rare treat these days now they're all grown up.
