Representation of a Speed map

As we went to vote this morning we noticed this beautiful wooden sculpture which, according to the notice next to it is a representation of the John Speed map of Kendal which was drawn circa 1611/12.
I do have a bit of a soft spot for Speed maps as my parents had one. Sadly we had to let it go due to its size and lack of space. That plus the fact that we have an Ogilby of Cumbria.
