248 Years. Leitz Elmarit 90mm, Bellows II

During the week, I had reason to reach into the tool closet for my Starrett micrometer gauge.  In my previous life, it was used to measure, very accurately, the thickness of harpsichord strings.  Mostly now, it is just an exquisitely made precision tool sitting in its little red box.
But I have been mulling the possibilities that the micrometer presents for a macro Blip.  So today, on America's birthday, I can show 248 years expressed in thousandths of an inch.
Just in time for the celebration, the United States Supreme Court told all of us, We The People, that, as a matter of law, the President is, essentially, above it. Happy Birthday.
