Polling Day

L taking it easy in bed ahead of tomorrow's op. I nipped out to vote for both of us having arranged an emergency proxy on her behalf. And our friend M was on polling duty again - I blipped her before on election day, in fact, more than once. All the polls predict a massive swing to Labour across the UK - I assume the Tories are desperately trying to persuade their supporters to stick with them with all this talk of a Labour super-majority. Studiously not mentioning the disaster it would be for them if they were to slip below the LibDems in number of seats and therefore didn't form the official opposition in the new Parliament. I can't see that happening and expect the Tories will hang on as second largest party, probably by some margin as the iniquities of FPTP continue to benefit the two largest parties.
In Scotland it is more of a fight between Labour and SNP with Labour expecting to make gains (not difficult considering they only had one MP in the last Parliament). Here in Edinburgh East (and now bits of Musselburgh) it is said to be a close race between previous incumbent Tommy Sheppard and Labour's Chris Murray, the former ex-Labour and on the left of his party, the latter on the right of his, which might help to buck the national trend towards Labour.
