Bollinger?

Not quite, but Bolly yes & with bubbles!

Not being a fan of 'the telly' what I do enjoy is watching some self made content on the internet's Well Known Video platform ending in Tube, which like most things online these days, comes up with suggestions of videos I may like.

A few days ago such a suggestion cropped up about the Macclesfield Canal passing through not too far away Bollongton, namely that it had sprung a leak next to the bridge near Clarence Mill where Ms.Arell & I once had a damn good natter when meeting in person for the first time on an afternoon of her Holz.

So with an evening to spare and a need for some headspace, Biscuit took me for a bimble through Marple, High Lane & a series of very quiet country lanes to reach the little town just north of Macclesfield.

The scene that greeted me was a little confusing in that the cut was full of water (a good thing) and apart from a patch of grass on one of the banks that looked like it had been flattened, not much else looked amiss. The video was a few weeks old but the bubbles & whirlpool seen prior to the section of pound being planked off looked pretty serious and an online search suggested that it indeed was.

So I accosted a local passerby to ask whether this was the spot. He confirmed it was, that "thankfully" the repair had been prompt and when I replied that it must have put everyone's mind at rest, he said "You don't say...you want to try living here!" which made me ponder if his dwelling was below sea canal level.

I sent a photo via the ether in a northerly direction, from which Ms.Arell replied that she had also seen the video of the leak recently and was pleased to see it had been repaired.

Apparently the locks at Marple have also been put back into operation now which must be good news for boaters travelling around the Cheshire Ring circuit.

Anyway, being the evening the air was getting chilly, dusk was approaching and Biscuit needed a glug of petrol. This was the third tankful where she has sipped it at the rate of just over 100mpg, frugal lass that she is ^_^
