Day at a Time

From the Potter

Our friends arrived yesterday, all the way from Cornwall. We have known them for decades but it's been eight long years since we were together. So lovely to have them here.

G is a potter and she brought this piece as a gift. It's been rubbed with iron oxide before being fired. A reminder of Cornwall's industrial heritage. She says it is watertight but I haven't tried that out. I'll need to put the cosmos into a different container now that the pot has been blipped.

We had such an enjoyable evening but I was awake so early this morning. I popped into the garden to cut the cosmos flower while it's still, unexpectedly, dry and sunny. The forecast is awful but our friends are easy to please and resilient. They mentioned a trip to our 'favourite coffee shop' so that's on the cards. I'd love to have a good walk but we'll have to judge that according to the weather.

We will be up unusually late tonight. We are on tenterhooks. On election nights we have the radio on for the results so that when we do go to bed we don't miss the news. We have already voted, postally, as have our friends. A lot is hanging on the result.
